Snow Business

I will be away for a few days. We are going to Vail to ski and attend the Vail Film festival! ( Oh my that sounds full of myself!) Trust me we are staying at very economical lodging and doing it on the cheap! Our friend Vinnie's son has a film titled "The Price" that has been entered and is in the running for the short film competition! Exciting stuff! Ozzie doesn't think so! At least his Dad and Grandpa will be home with him! I know
it s not the same as having Mom around but it will have to do. It's just for a few days! Oh dear I am having separation anxiety! Maybe if I take his picture with me and show it to everyone I meet! Someone may think he is movie star material. They will want him for their next blockbuster film! Ozzie will become a household name like .... wait I am getting carried away. Yes Oz you are content simply to be the star in your own household! Okay Mr De Mille Ozzie is ready for his close up!

Check out the film "The Price"

Wordless Wednesday

Did I hear someone say lunch was ready?

Finally Friday - "Big" (Not the Movie!)

Feed me!

I am sure that Ozzie is less than thrilled about my recent attempts to reduce his calorie intake! Last night I gave him only 2/3 a cup of kibble with some mashed up green beans. He looked at me and wondered where the rest was! It's the only way he will lose some weight...I hope. Without much exercise going on in his day to day life he just has to be fed less. The rest of the family has to improve their willpower in resisting his sad sack face. Yes he always looks pathetically hungry but that is his downfall. Look at him for goodness sakes! Though our vet confided that his mother and father were probably bigger bullies and it just may be in his genetic makeup to be "big"! I can't justify our part in his being "big". Since we had him he has gained 7 pounds and that is all our doing! So we will all continue to be strong and not give in to his demands. "Oz ole boy it's for you own good!" I don't think he is buying it but he will thank me when it comes to bathing suit season!

Clean as a Whistle!

Ozzie survived another bath yesterday! As usual he wasn't too happy when we arrived at the Petsmart groomers but he was delighted when I came to take him home. He swaggered out of the grooming area looking quite dapper. Stopping at each of the cashiers to get a treat he revealed in his new cleanliness. I decided to take him over to the veterinarian area to use their scale. Anticipating some more weight gain at the very least. Ozzie very willingly got up on the scale. I took a deep breath and watched the numbers soar. Hm, 82.4 pounds....he weighed 82.6 last time. It is weight loss no matter how minuscule! Hope this is a trend! We will continue to work it!

Bath and Beyond!

Ozzie doesn't know it yet, but he is going for his bath later this morning. Never an easy task to get him in the car then out of the car into the groomers. He has already done breakfast and now is settling in on his morning nap. I will have to wake him in an hour or so. This isn't going to be pretty! I will keep you all posted later!

Finally Friday

I am not sure yet what our plans for the weekend are but Ozzie seems to have it all wrapped up for himself. It involves several power naps and several meals not necessarily in that order but you get the picture. Little does he know we will be taking him out for walks on both days! It's been a long winter and he has not walked in a while. I am sure he will be less than cooperative so I will have my usual pocket of treats to lure him down the road. One might think that this will negate all the benefits of walking but for Oz it is a far better thing than laying on the couch! The smell of that fresh air may invigorate him to take a shorter nap! On to a subject of more importance. We all have been watching and have been touched by the images that have come out of Northern Japan. People searching desperately in the rubble for signs of family members while nuclear reactors are setting off into a meltdown. Upsetting to watch but I am struck by the grace and dignity of the Japanese people. Their unsolicited cooperation and concern for one another has impressed me deeply. I just want to mention they are in my prayers. I wish for them "Chiyu" which means in Japanese healing and recovery. To all have a wonderful weekend!

Happy St "Pawtrick's" Day!

What a beautiful day for a parade! The weather here in the New York City metro area is suppose to be sunny with a high of 62 degrees! I am sure that there will be a lot more parade goers this year! I myself have only been to the NYC St Patrick's day parade once when I was about 19 years old. I remember it was cold and windy and I couldn't see a thing with folks stacked 5 deep along the sidewalk. There was a drunken celebrant in front of me that threw up on his shoes and that was the highlight of the parade...at least from my vantage point!

Ozzie's highlight today will be the smell of corn beef cooking on the stove. He will be waiting patiently for his piece but no cabbage please, we already have our digestive issues!

Here are some Irish wishes from Ozzie who today is an Irish Bulldog!

May your purse always hold a dog biscuit or two!

May the paw of a friend always be near you!

There is no Place Like Home!

Sorry it seems that I have abandoned my posting duties but we have been away on a ski trip in Mammoth California. Note I said trip not vacation because to say vacation would indicate we had a relaxing time! With a 12 hour excursion to arrive at the resort and the 3 hour time difference plus elevation of 9000 feet the first couple of days were a bit weary for me! Then 5 straight days of skiing have left my knees aching! Any rate the mountain was beautiful and the group we went with was a lot of laughs and now I am grateful to be back home! So is Ozzie! He was good boy under Grandpa's watch ( so he says ) but I know it's not the same as having mom and dad home. When we came in the door Saturday night ( really Sunday morning ) at 5:00 AM after a tiring journey Ozzie was there to greet us. He makes this distinct noise only reserved for when we have been away and return home. It is almost like a soft purring sound that says " where were you ...I missed you something awful!"

Finally Friday

Ozzie has been doing his best to keep busy during these winter months. Sleep, eat play with tug toy, sleep, eat, sleep! No wonder he has been putting the pounds! I try to get him involved in a rousing game of tug of war but it never lasts long. I suppose it has become boring! Even I have caught a case of the doldrums. Cleaning out a closet on the weekend has become a highlight! I can't wait to get outside again and feel the warmth of the sun on my face!
I look forward to getting into the car and maybe taking a ride down the parkway to the Jersey shore! Though with the price of gas going higher each day those rides may be limited! Ozzie seems to be content with the couch for now so I shouldn't complain! Hope you all have an exciting weekend or if not a organized closet!

Home at Last

Ozzie was a little P.O. 'd when we arrived home Sunday evening. I know he hates it when we go away! All we got was "talk to the tail" but he warmed up as the evening progressed and before you knew it he was sound asleep on the couch with his Dad! Sweet dreams Oz man Mom and Dad are home ....until next time. If only he could learn to snowboard!
