  1. Greetings from Texas! RJ sent us the link to your blog. Congrats on getting Ozzie. That's a fine looking bulldog you have there.

Since you are new to bullys, here is a warning and a few tips (all of which you may have already figured out):

Bulldogs are dangerous - but only in that you will start to buy anything and everything that is associated with bulls: cards, photos, paperweights, pillows, etc., etc. We have something of a Bulldog shrine on one bookcase. This gets expensive as it seems that Bulldogs are one of the most commercialized pups there are. You'll start noticing their ubiquitousness in advertising, etc.

Most bullies that I have known absolutely love getting tgheir "stop" rubbed, which is the little indention above their nose and between their eyes. But sheer ecstacy comes by scratching their butts just above where their tail attaches to their body.

As you must know by now, a Bulldogs front end is mostly slobber and their back end is methane. Both of these are something of an embarrassment, but remember that Ozzie will never embarrass you by licking himself in front of guests. It's not that he may not want to; it's just that Bullies don't bend so he doesn't even know that anything is back there.

Anyway, you are ooking forward to a long and happy time with your Bully and i hope y'all make the most of it. They are absolutely hilarious animals (our first Bull, Bullet, loved to swim - especially at the beach - and would have probably tried to swim to Cuba but liked body surfing back to shore even more)and extremely sweet and gentle but can be fiercely protective of children so your son will have both a loving companion and a stout champion.

One thing to know is that other dogs don't always get along with Bulldogs even though Ozzie most probably has no intention of being mean to the other dog. This is supposedly because Bulls can't make as many facial expressions (although the ones they can make seem to be much more expressive than, say, a poodle's) so the other dog can't "read" them and assumes the worst.

By the way, Bullies have absolutely no idea that anybody would ever consider them to be less than the most handsome thing on four paws.

  2. Don, if you aren't married or "involoved" would you like to get together? You sound like one kinda great guy and I'm in Texas too. Got any pictures of your bullpuppies?
