Feel Good Friday

Summer is in full swing and I am loving it! Especially after the awful winter we had! Nala had a visit with her former owner the other weekend. We met in a local dog park and the two had a joyful reunion! Nala's prior mommy had to surrender Nala because she worked and went to school which left little time for a bulldog. Realizing this, she made the painful decision to surrender her to the rescue for which I really admire her for! She did something that a lot of people might not do, putting what was best for her dog first! A very selfless act of love! When we met she gave Nala a great gift, a cooling pad for the summer. Knowing how bulldogs easily over heat this cooling pad for her to chill on is a great idea!  It's cooling feature is in the material itself and does not require putting it in the frig to keep it cool. Now I only have to get her to use it. Nala seems to artfully dodge it where ever I put it down!

So speaking of summer and chilling out keep in mind how the heat can be dangerous for your dog. Especially bulldogs and other short snout or flat face breeds. Walking in mid day heat or the ultimate no-no leaving them in your car are all potentially life threatening. Keeping them cool indoors with the AC on is where they need to be. We walk Nala only very early morning or late evening and even then if it's humid we keep the walks short.

Also folks if you see a dog in a hot car in a parking lot or on the street and cannot locate the owner please do not hesitate to call the police. Inside a car on a 85 F degree day the temperature can easily reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit inside a vehicle, which of course is deadly. In several states it s against the law to leave your pet in the car, though I don't know why its not illegal everywhere!

Nala gets in her moods where she just loves to bark her head off! I have been trying to decide if its because she wants attention or senses some other animal nearby? Maybe she just gets downright bored and needs to stir things up a bit!

As for Nala, I think she is simply wants the attention. 'Look at me not the computer or TV..I am much more entertaining than those things!" Here in this video is some of Nala's best barking to date!

Celebrate Sunday

I was away on vacation down in Florida for a week while my husband stayed home with our Nala. By the end of the week I was really missing her,,,oh yeah my husband too. I think she was a little depressed while I was gone( so said my husband ) but our reunion was so joyful! It's one of the hardest things is leaving them even if it's only for a few days!


I noticed since I came back that our neighbors yard was missing the cute little bunny rabbit that lived there. Every morning I would enjoy watching him sit in the grass munching happily away on a carrot. I asked my neighbor Clare what happened and immediately her face turned serious. " The women who lives on the corner ....well her cat killed the bunny! I will refrain from the gory details!" 'Oh no!" I replied with horror! Then I began my tirade on how irresponsible of a pet owner she is etc.! People just shouldn't let their cats go loose, they can pick up disease or get hit by a car or be subject to sick people who do awful things to animals! Agghhh! That poor bunny! The emptiness of the back yard is so sad! What can you do other than confront her and tell her what her cat did and why she needs to keep it indoors! She will probably get mad but who gives a flying fig!

Enough of that, anyway life goes on and it's finally not raining and Nala and I are going for a walk!

Tuesday's Toy

Nala really takes delight in playing with her newest toy. It's the PetZip which is basically a Frisbee made of material. She is having some quality play time with this one. I picked it up at Marshalls for only $3.00! I should go back and get another one, that is if they still have one left. It's only a matter of time before she shreds this to pieces!

Wishing you all had a happy Easter and Passover this week/weekend! Nala was a bit disappointed in the Easter bunny but what can you do!? There is always next year!

Typical Tuesday

Nala was bird watching the other day, when she turned around to go back in she caught a glimpse of her reflection in the glass of of the sliding door and thought there was another dog inside in the house. She ran in and started looking for the mysterious dog but shortly gave up when she was no where to be found!
